In the 1980s, Sir Speedy was the first in the quick printing industry to introduce a nationwide network of fax machines and color copiers and began using electronic publishing over traditional typesetting with Macintosh computers. In 1981, Don Lowe joined the company as Chief Executive Officer, and that same year the company was taken private.
